Dining, Shopping & Entertainment
Despite being a small city, Celina has a vibrant town square, a historic downtown square of its own, that includes shopping, professional services, lush green spaces, and dining. As a bonus, Celina's downtown is within walking distance of the Pavilion on the Square and has seen rapid growth and development over the past few years. Here you can see how Celina aims to blend historic features with modern amenities. Â
As the heart of the city, the town square is where you'll find some of the best local restaurants like Lucy's on the Square and Tender Smokehouse. Lucy's is a family-friendly Celina staple serving comfort food in a rustic interior with a cozy, laid-back vibe. For authentic, handmade, Texas-style meats, you can't go wrong with the acclaimed BBQ eatery that is Tender Smokehouse. Â
Health-conscious individuals and vegetarians might prefer Toasted Walnut Table and Market. Chef Joey is committed to providing food that replenishes and revives his customers. He uses only the freshest ingredients to create honest, nutrient-rich food mixed with bold flavors and seasonings. Â
Things to Do
Frisco’s Hope Park is considered the best playground in Collin County. It's accessible for children of all abilities and brimming with fun activities for kids like a climbing wall, car slide, miniature town, and lots more. As a fully accessible playground, Hope Park's playground design implements accessible swings, spongy floors suitable for wheelchairs, and a cochlear implant-friendly slide. Â
While actually located in McKinney, Arcade 92 is right around the corner from Celina and the perfect family-friendly hangout spot for people of all ages. This arcade setup is known for its excellent food, retro atmosphere, and of course, its row of classic arcade games, including more than 100 different games ranging from machines to modern consoles. Â
Celina also hosts two special events each year, the Celina Cajun Fest and Splash & Blast. The Cajun Fest held downtown is a free festival featuring a crawfish boil, an alligator show, live Cajun music, and fun for the whole family. Splash & Blast is an epic Independence Day celebration that is free to attend and includes live music, market and food vendors, a kids zone, and a spectacular fireworks show in the evening. Â
And while Splash & Blast and the Cajun Fest are the two biggest events, Celina hosts lots of other festivities like Friday Night Markets, an Easter egg hunt, a wine crawl, Beware! Of the Square, golf tournaments, Christmas on the Square, movie nights, a music series, street dances, and much more.
